How Can They Say Pluto Isn't a Planet Anymore?

This baffles me to no end... How do you say something all of a sudden isn't what it's always been!!!!

What do you think, Do you still consider Pluto a planet? What justifies a planet?

Me too, even more so looking at this quote:

"There is no piece of paper which sets down what the definition of a planet is. Terminology is something you're left with from history and when you make new discoveries, it's hard to fit things into that terminology," says astronomer Jacqueline Mitton.

To me, it's fairly unclear. I'm going to look into this more I think. I'm really unsure if I consider Pluto a planet. I just don't have enough definitive facts to swing either way.

I've got enough facts.....

Since I have been in grade school, and everytime I had to do a project on the solar system....you could never forget pluto...

I was taught that pluto is a planet!!!!! lol

Things change, I suppose. A simple wording can change everything. For all we know, in a few years, we could see it again!

I just think that is just like saying, A bicycle isn't a bicycle anymore its a shoe.

Not quite, it's like saying it is okay to be a Satanist and kill people because the charter says rights to all religions. Then they look closer into the charter, and see their is another part that says it infringes upon others rights, it can be disallowed.

I just read is actually in a far meteor belt, or something like that. Probably just deals with realizing this. I mean, have you seen the original pictures of Pluto? Not much to go by. Just a simple discrepancy.
